It has been me and my close cousins’ dream to put up a nice and cozy book cafe one day. I picture the place to be warm in the eyes with a welcoming ambiance. I just had about the same comforting feeling when I stepped in a cafe called Noriter, our feature for this post.
Location: Taft Ave., Manila
How to get there: The easiest way to get there is to take the LRT Line 1 train to Vito Cruz Station near DLSU. It’s above Tapa King near the stop light. The stairway up is beside Tapa King.
“Noriter” is the Korean word for playground. As any playgroud should be, it’s full of things that would remind one of youth and fun out of simple things. The walls are lined with drawings and small pieces of artworks that are quite stimulating especially if you’re into the arts. I myself, was inspired to create more illustrations. (This calls for an ILovePaper post, I guess.)
There are tables that are covered with decorated photos and cards paired with mismatched chairs. It’s a really cozy place for a nice talk with a friend. For the more playful crowd, they can choose to sit on the elevated wooden floors with low tables. Because one has to sit on the floor, it is required that customers remove their footwear.
On one corner of the cafe you’ll find a wall lined with paper cups decorated by various people who has visited the place. Me and my friends also drew on cups and placed them on the cup stack. It’s a really cute spot for photo ops.
We tried out a few offerings they had for that day.My BFF, Georgina ordered the fruit-flooded Waffles, Pat ordered Ham and Egg sandwich, while I ordered the Honey Bread topped with cream and caramel syrup. I must say, my sweet tooth just had it’s sugar fix! The prices of the food range from 90-200 Php.
It’s a really good feeling to be able to try out new places with a different vibe and atmosphere. Because of this visit, the artist in me was again inspired to come up with beautiful ideas. I found this wall design particularly cute. It reminds me how much I love coffee. I believe this photo is to blame for my 6 cups of coffee intake that night.
Simple things like these images inspire me lately, how about you?
I would love to hear about what inspires different people, feel free to comment on this post or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
